Knowledge & Experience:
- Knowledge of hardware, including Apple, HP, Dell, Lenovo, and others.
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
- Support experience with printers, desktops, laptops, servers, and a variety audio/visual components.
- Working knowledge of current operating systems, software, and standards, including recent versions of Windows, MacOS/iOS, and ChromeOS.
- Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
- Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
- Ability to conduct research into hardware products and issues as required.
Essential Functions of Position: The Hardware Technician’s role is to provide repair and maintenance services for technology equipment and IT assets. This includes diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading hardware and equipment while ensuring its optimal performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training and assistance where required.
- Conduct research on, and make recommendations for, hardware products in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Identify and deliver required hardware service levels according to company policies and service agreements.
- Liaise with and provide training and support to end users and staff on equipment operation and other issues.
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot end user hardware, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, and other products.
- Receive and respond to incoming calls, tickets, and/or e-mails regarding hardware problems.
- Document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
- If necessary, liaise with third-party support and equipment vendors.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
- Maintain a clean working environment.
- Adhere to regular and dependable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
